Polishing Process Engineer

 

A US based rapidly growing leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of high-density crystal materials for the Opto-electronic, semi-conductor, and optical industries is seeking a Development Engineer for a new manufacturing facility in Penang, Malaysia. This multi-faceted development engineer function is primarily focused on providing Development Engineering support to manufacturing operations. 

 

Primary Functions

  • Prove-in new polishing and cleaning equipments
  • Develop and improve manufacturing polishing and cleaning processes for new products to meet stringent customer specification for single side and double side polished wafers (Sapphire)
  • Develop cost effective solution for consumables to drive unit cost down
  • Develop, improve and/or optimize polishing and cleaning processes to minimize or eliminate  ‘rework’ for flatness, scratches and particle requirements
  • Reduce and/or eliminate scrap and re-work
  • Improve first pass yield and minimize cycle time to improve throughputs
  • Conduct Engineering studies and improve process workflow to improve efficiency
  • Conduct Engineering studies to optimize a maintenance program to eliminate un-scheduled shut down of manufacturing equipments.
  • Write and update work instructions for the operators
  • Train and certify operators per the work instructions
  • Provide meaningful method to collect process data to monitor processes
  • Implement effective method to monitor product characteristic to ensure spec compliance
  • Become expert and support process and metrology equipments
  • Apply statistical tools and techniques for continuous process improvements and monitoring

 

Qualifications:

  • PHD in Material Science Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in the related position
  • Semi-conductor industry experience preferred

 

Optional Skills and Flexibility:

  • Proficiency in MS word, Excel, Statistical Data analysis Software
  • Good communication skill
  • Proficiency in English

Pre-polishing Engineer

 

 

Position Title: Senior Engineer                                                                                        

Reporting to: EngineeringManager/Director                                                                                            

Department: Pre-Polishing

Job Description:

Primarily function is focused on providing Engineering support to manufacturing operations. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prove-in new lapping and pre-polishing equipments. Familiar with fixed and free abrasive

 

  • Improve lapping and pre-polishing processes for new products to meet stringent customer specification for double side pre-polished wafers.

 

  • To test and implement cost effective solution for consumables to drive unit cost down.

 

  • Improve and/or optimize lapped and pre-polishing processes to minimize or eliminate  ‘rework’ for thickness, TTV and dimension requirements.

 

  • Reduce and/or eliminate scrap and re-work.

 

  • Improve first pass yield and minimize cycle time to improve throughputs.

 

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI)

 

  • Write and update work instructions for the operators.

 

  • Train and certify operators per the work instructions.

 

  • Provide meaningful method to collect process data to monitor processes.

 

  • Implement effective method to monitor product characteristic to ensure spec compliance.

 

  • Become expert and support process and metrology equipments.

 

  • Apply statistical tools and techniques for continuous process improvements and monitoring.

 

 

Qualification:

 

 

  • PhD Degree in Chemical /Mechanical/Materials Engineering, Physics or Chemistry.
  • 5 years of experience in the related position

Position Title:  Fabrication Engineer

Reporting to : Engineering Manager/Director

Department  : Engineering

 

Job Description:

The role of the process engineer is to evaluate existing processes and to configure manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prove-in machines for fabrication process (Sapphire)

 

  • Develop cost effective solution and high yield performance.

 

  • Improve cycle time to improve throughputs.

 

  • Conduct engineering studies and improve process workflow to improve efficiency.

 

  • Design, develop and implement tooling for new and sustaining fabrication process

 

  • Write and update work instructions for the operators.

 

  • Apply statistical tools and techniques for continuous process improvements and monitoring

 

  • Implement effective testing method to monitor product characteristic to ensure spec compliance

 

  • Train and certify operators per the work instructions

 

  • Provide meaningful method to collect process data to monitor processes

 

Qualification:

  • Masters/PhD in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in the related position

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS word, Excel, Statistical Data analysis Software
  • Solidworks or CAD design software
  • System knowledge to troubleshoot  fabrication machines
  • Good communication skill

  Position Title: QA Engineer  

Reporting to: Quality Manager;

Department: Quality Assurance

 

Job Description:

Assisting Quality Manager in improving the quality system and ensures compliance to ISO 9000 standard. This position interface with senior and executive levels with regard to ISO 9000 process improvement and reengineering. Ability to perform data analysis and presentation to upper management.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Communicate and work with customers and the operations team on all Quality issues with the purpose of achieving customer set goals.
  2. Involves in managing daily quality issues and ensure proper documentation and reports
  3. Support the operations team on resolving quality issue
  4. Involves in managing daily quality issues and ensure proper documentation and reporting
  5. Drives and follows up with operations team on quality indicators, quality improvement plans and corrective actions.
  6. Publishers weekly and monthly quality reports for customers and management
  7. Coordinate customer visits and audits
  8. Prepares report for customers in response to quality issues, improvement plans, monthly reports etc
  9. Initiate product quality meeting to highlight issues and discussion on action plan & drive for continuous improvement.
  10. Handle customer complaint issues, verify the corrective action effectiveness and ensure complaints are well addressed.
  11. Join as the core team for new product NPI preparation (APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC control limit establish).
  12. Coordinate to ensure internal QA team understand on the product requirement.
  13. Responsible for product quality and process control.
  14. Perform internal audit.

 

Qualification:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree, Professional Degree, Engineering (Mechanical/Electronic), Engineering , Physics, Sciences or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing environment in a quality-related job

 

Skills:

  • Good knowledge of quality system standards
  • Exposed to SPC / 6-sigma / Lean concepts and methodologies
  • knowledge of Quality concepts such as SPC, FMEA, MSA etc
  • Ability in decision making and problem solving

    Job Description:

    This multi-faceted slicing engineer function is primarily focused on providing process, development and manufacturing Engineering support to manufacturing operations. 

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Prove-in new wire saw and cleaning equipments.
    2. Develop slicing and cleaning processes for new products to meet stringent customer specification for 2 till 6 inch wafers.
    3. Develop cost effective solution for consumables to drive unit cost down.
    4. Develop and/or optimize polishing and cleaning processes to minimize or eliminate  disorientations, warp and thickness defects.
    5. Reduce and/or eliminate scrap.
    6. Improve first pass yield and minimize cycle time to improve throughputs.
    7. Conduct Engineering studies and improve process workflow to improve efficiency.
    8. Conduct Engineering studies to optimize a maintenance program to eliminate un-scheduled shut down of manufacturing equipments.
    9. Write and update work instructions for the operators.
    10. Train and certify operators per the work instructions.
    11. Provide meaningful method to collect process data to monitor processes.
    12. Implement effective method to monitor product characteristic to ensure spec compliance.
